Dundee United midfielder Danny Swanson wants to repay Craig Levein's faith in his ability by producing the goods for Scotland.
Former Tannadice boss Levein gave the 24-year-old his big chance with the Tangerines after snapping up Swanson from Berwick Rangers.
Levein is now in charge of Scotland and he watched Swanson in action as he found the back of the net in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Hibernian at Easter Road.
Levein has nothing but positive words for Swanson, who has now set his sights on winning his first cap for his country, although he acknowledges that it will be hard to break into the team.
Consistency
"I was quite happy with what (Levein) said," explained Swanson. "I'm glad to be back playing again instead of being injured and if someone like him notices it's brilliant.
"This is the best Scotland team I've seen for a number of years, especially in midfield. To be spoken about the possibility of playing is a great feeling.
"Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to do it. I didn't know he was in the stand to be fair, I didn't feel I played all that great.
"I've always said if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be a Scottish Cup winner and playing every week for Dundee United. Hopefully one day I can repay him by scoring for Scotland.
"I think I'm good enough to make the step up, but it's just a matter of consistency and proving it. I don't think I've proved how good I can be, but I believe I'm good enough to play for Scotland."
