May is in talks with St Johnstone over a new long-term deal after he was linked with a move to Peterborough in the summer.
The 20-year-old spent time out on loan at Alloa two seasons ago before being sent to Hamilton last season, and impressed during his time at both clubs.
May has carried on his fine form this season and is St Johnstone's top scorer with seven goals so far, and he admits he is happy to stay at McDiarmid Park.
"I was never going to be going anywhere, I know the players at St Johnstone, I know everyone about here. I have been here a long time and I like playing here," May told Sky Sports News.
"At the age I am at I need to be playing first-team football and it is beneficial doing that.
"I am not too sure about the details. They are all still getting sorted but I am happy to sign a contract."
