Stags midfielder expects to sit out rest of season

Mansfield Town midfielder Lee Bell fears he will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Bell damaged medial ligaments during last Saturday's game at Darlington and was forced off at half-time in the 2-1 win. He will learn at the weekend whether he requires an operation, but is not expecting to play for the Stags again this term. "I knew it was quite serious at the time, but I wanted to carry on playing," Bell told the club's official website.

Not looking good

"After talking to the medical people, it is not looking good. I think I will be out for the rest of the season. "I can barely move my leg and I haven't slept because of the pain. I would say I will be out for a minimum of two months, which takes out most of the season. "I am going to see a specialist at the weekend and there is a chance it could be operated on." Bell has made 27 appearances for Mansfield since joining the League Two strugglers on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra last summer.
