Brewers aim to keep Phillips

Burton Albion recently offered Jimmy Phillips a contract and manager Gary Rowett is hoping the midfielder will soon sign the new deal.

Phillips remains the only member of last season's squad yet to commit his future to the club after long-serving left-back Aaron Webster penned his new deal on Tuesday. Phillips, 22, has been offered a new two-year contract. Albion boss Gary Rowett said: "We are in negotiations with Jimmy and his agent and I have offered him a deal which I think is reflective of his position in the squad. "With Jimmy being under 24 there is the potential issue of compensation should he decide to move on. But hopefully we won't need to go down that route and he will remain a part of the squad."
