Monaco beat out-of-form Marseille 2-1 at Stade Louis II to move back into second place above Lyon in Ligue 1.

Leonardo Jardim's men had lost their previous two league matches to slip behind Lyon in the battle for Champions League qualification.

Marseille, meanwhile, started the match without a league win since February 2 and just six points ahead of the relegation zone.

The deadlock was eventually broken at the start of the second half through a fine finish from Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva on 47 minutes.

Defender Andrea Raggi lashed the ball in after it was flicked on at a corner with 15 minutes left.

Marseille, whose fans had been banned from attending the match, netted a consolation in stoppage time through Michy Batshuayi.

At the other end of the table, Guingamp took a big step towards Ligue 1 survival with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Brittany rivals Rennes.

The visitors hit three goals in the space of 14 minutes in the second half, with Moustapha Diallo (63), Jimmy Briand (73) and Younousse Sankhare (77) all on target as Jocelyn Gourvennec's men moved eight points clear of the relegation zone with four games left.

Elsewhere, Montpellier secured their first victory in six with a 2-0 away win at Nantes, which also boosted their survival hopes.

La Pallaide are now on 40 points, six ahead of 18th-placed Ajaccio after goals from Bryan Dabo (23) and Ellyes Skhiri (71) inflicted a fourth successive league defeat on Nantes, which all but ended their hopes of Europa League qualification.
