Arsenal Ladies bring in United States star Heather O'Reilly

Arsenal Ladies have signed hugely-experienced United States midfielder Heather O'Reilly.

The 32-year-old is one of the most-capped players in women's international football, having scored 47 goals in her 231 appearances for the USA.

She joins the Gunners from FC Kansas City and brings an incredible pedigree to the club, having won the World Cup in 2015 as well as three Olympic Games gold medals.

O'Reilly was also a nominee for the prestigious Puskas Award in 2011 for a goal she scored for the USA against Colombia, one of 10 to be listed for the award alongside winner Neymar, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

She told Arsenal's website: "Having come over to Arsenal last year to train, I was very impressed with the club.

"The facilities are world class and they have a tradition of excellence at the club that I wanted to be a part of, I'm very happy to be here."

Arsenal Ladies manager Pedro Martinez Losa added: "She is a world class player and one of the most respected players in the US. Her determination and character will make a big difference for this club.
