Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has admitted he is struggling to accept being taunted by rival fans after the poor start to his Premier League career.
Spurs signed former Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini during the January transfer window in the wake of Gomes' poor form.
But the Brazilian was a beloved figure in Holland when playing for his previous club PSV Eindhoven.
"Every single time I went on the pitch, I could hear my name being chanted," he told The Guardian.
"But it wasn't just the PSV fans, it would be the same from supporters of every club we were playing."
However, the 28-year-old has not been able to repeat his impressive performances in the Eredivisie for new side Spurs.
Gomes has committed a string of costly errors, leading to opposing players talking of specifically targeting him because of his weaknesses.
Despite not being included in a Premier League starting line-up since the signing of Cudicini, he is still confident he can return to his best while at White Hart Lane.
"It has been a very difficult time for me, it has also been a shock," he added.
"If you look back through my career, I've never had a bad period before, whether it be for Cruzeiro, PSV or Brazil.
"I know I have made mistakes, but I have always believed it is a bad period that will pass if I am strong.
"If I had ever thought I had become so bad I could not help the team, I would have been the first person to tell the club: 'That's it, I should go'.
"But I have always thought I will come back and be the goalkeeper I was before."
Meanwhile, Spurs supporters attending the Carling Cup final at Wembley on Sunday will find a flag on each one of their seats as part of the club's support for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
The Foundation aims to create opportunities that change lives for people in the community, and the Foundation's "Wave the Flag" Wembley initiative aims to create a spectacle in support of the Foundation and Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
