Oxford goalkeeper Simon Eastwood has agreed a two-year contract extension with the Sky Bet League One club.

The 27-year-old, who began his career at Huddersfield, has been a regular in Michael Appleton's side this season making a total of 42 appearances in all competitions.

"I'm really happy to have got it all sorted and be committing my future to the club," Eastwood told the club's official website.

"It has gone very well so far and I am enjoying my football. I have a young family so you are always looking for a bit of security for the future but it was all very straightforward because I feel as though this is a club on the up at the moment and I want to be a part of that over the next few years."

Appleton added: "Obviously I rate Easty - I've signed him three times now! He needed a run of games as first choice and has taken that opportunity and got better and better as the season has gone on.

"He is still fairly young in terms of goalkeepers and I am sure there is still more to come from him."
