Wilder hails professional U's

Oxford boss Chris Wilder praised his side for a 3-1 victory at Exeter which he felt was a professional job.

The U's were good value for their win, earned thanks to a double from James Constable and a strike from Peter Leven, and the visitors could have won by a bigger scoreline. "It was always going to be a tough game for us but we weathered the early storm which we knew would come," he said. "We stuck in there and gradually got on top. They had three men in the middle of the park, so it was on for us to get it wide and that drove them back," he said. "I was maybe a touch disappointed at half-time that we have not increased our lead. But we scored two terrific goals after the break and I am delighted that we took all the points. The way we have gone about our performance has rewarded the players and the supporters. "I looked at the fixture list today and the maximum any away team has had to travel is 90 minutes and we have to go three and a half hours. "No away team has had to travel overnight apart for us, so maybe next year the club might get a Boxing Day home fixture. I am slightly annoyed why the fixture came out this way, but we prepared properly and we have been rewarded."
