Marotta keeping tabs on several star names

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has expressed his admiration for several players, including Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez. Juve are currently seventh in the Serie A standings and could miss out on European qualification for next season after a difficult campaign. They are expected to strengthen considerably over the summer and have been linked with a number of high-profile names. Marotta concedes they may be priced out of moves for the likes of Tevez, Lazio striker Mauro Zarate, Michel Bastos of Lyon and Brazilian starlet Neymar, who is also reportedly being tracked by the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona. Juve are still considering their transfer targets and Marotta admits he is a fan of players such as Modric and Lazio right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner. "Mauro Zarate? The value of the Argentine striker is not discussed but, frankly, it is difficult," Marotta told Corriere dello Sport.

Economic aspects

"Lichtsteiner? We like him. Modric? He's an interesting footballer but we are following many players. "€15million for Michel Bastos? No, we deal on smaller bases. "Neymar and Tevez? They are two great players that everyone wants, including Juventus, but we must consider the economic aspects. "On Neymar there is a strong interest of Chelsea." Vincenzo Iaquinta is one player to have been linked with a move away from Juventus, but agent Andrea D'Amico insists he will not be going anywhere. He told calciomercato.it: "Vincenzo is one of the most important players for Juventus. "Roma, Udinese, Tottenham? This is speculation. Vincenzo is concentrating on getting fit for next season (following a thigh injury) and he has a contract with Juve."
