Akinfeev and Dzagoev to make finals

Russia are set to be boosted by the fact that CSKA Moscow duo Igor Akinfeev and Alan Dzagoev will both be fit for the European Championship. Akinfeev is back in full training after an eight-month lay-off following a cruciate knee ligament injury. He is now pencilled in to make his return to action against Zenit St Petersburg next week. "Igor will play against Zenit," said CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky. Akinfeev, 26, has over 50 caps for Russia and news of his return to fitness will be a significant boost to national coach Dick Advocaat. The Dutchman will also be encouraged by CSKA's declaration that midfielder Dzagoev should be fit for Poland and Ukraine. The 21-year-old playmaker broke a toe in March and although not expected to play for CSKA again this season, will be ready for Russia. "By the start of May, Alan's cast should be taken off, and he'll return to the squad two or three weeks later," Slutsky said. "Alan should be fit for the European Championship."
