AFC Wimbledon have made their first signing since winning promotion to League One by making Darius Charles' loan deal permanent.

The defender, 28, who played in the 2-0 win over Plymouth in Monday's play-off final, only joined Burton last June, but, after struggling with injuries, joined the Dons on loan in March.

Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley told the club website: "I still don't think we've seen the best of him yet. He has still had problems after suffering a broken leg last year, but if he's only at 80 per cent I would love to see him at 100 per cent."

The Dons received another boost on Tuesday with the news that key players Barry Fuller, George Francomb and Dannie Bulman have all signed new deals.

Ardley said: "Barry does nothing wrong and he gives 100 per cent every game. He is a leader and that's why he's captain, but he is also fit and strong.

"We've not seen the best of George yet. He is growing and getting better every season. His consistency in his performances is phenomenal.

We are delighted to sign them both for the future because good players do not grow on trees.
