Oldham v Crawley preview

Image: Jose Baxter: Has served his two-match ban

Team news ahead of Saturday's League One clash between Oldham Athletic and Crawley Town at Boundary Park.

The hosts will be without James Wesolowski and James Tarkowski as they go in search of the point required to preserve their league status. Wesolowski was absent from midfield for the back-to-back 1-0 wins over Bury and Yeovil over the last week due to a slight tear to his medial knee ligament and will not be risked before the end of the season unless absolutely necessary. Centre-back Tarkowski definitely has no further part to play this term due to a more severe problem with the same ligament. Fellow defender Cliff Byrne remains doubtful due to a groin complaint but top scorer Jose Baxter returns to bolster boss Lee Johnson's attacking options after completing a two-match suspension. Victory would mark Oldham's first three-match winning run in the current campaign. The visitors will check on Connor Essam and Nicky Adams ahead of the trip to Oldham. Defender Essam scored his first goal for the club in last Saturday's 2-0 win over Coventry, but had to go off late in the game with a hip injury. Winger Adams was also a casualty against the Sky Blues after limping off with a knee knock but neither injury is thought to be too serious. Skipper Josh Simpson returned from an ankle injury as a late substitute so he should be involved again, along with fellow midfielder Matt Sparrow, who was an unused sub after recovering from a hamstring problem. Defender Kyle MacFadzean is unlikely to appear again this season after a long battle against a virus.
