Gregory thrilled with Reds win

Crawley's boss John Gregory watched his side cause an upset when they won 3-2 at leaders Leyton Orient to hand him his first win.

Crawley came from behind to go in at half-time with a 2-1 lead. Moses Odubajo had put the home side in front after 14 minutes before former O's striker Gary Alexander headed the equaliser after 36 minutes. Alexander's 45th-minute penalty was pushed on to a post by Orient keeper Jamie Jones, but Andy Drury reacted quickly to net the rebound and give Crawley the lead. Orient went in search of the equaliser after the break, but were stunned when Nicky Adams capitalised on an error by Mathieu Baudry and lobbed the ball over the advancing Jones to give the visitors a two-goal cushion with 15 minutes remaining. Substitute Marvin Bartley gave Orient faint hope with a scrambled goal six minutes from time, but the visitors held out to record a deserved victory. "It was a great scalp," said Gregory. "I don't think anyone gave us much chance of coming here to play the a side who have been tearing up this division. "They have had an amazing start to the season and are a difficult team to play against, but I've got nothing but praise for my boys in the way they stood up to them. We've come away with a fantastic win. "I thought we made the best start to a game since I've joined Crawley and they scored against the run of play. "We had looked totally composed, we kept the ball well, moved it around well and looked the team were at the top of the league. "They scored a goal against the run of play and suddenly we had our backs to the wall. "But we showed great resilience right the way through the team, the boys really struck together. "I've always given the message to stay in the game, if you are one-nil down, make sure you don't concede again and then you've always got a chance to get back in it. "We fully deserved to go 3-1 up and it could have been four or 5-1, because we missed a couple of opportunities and that would have made it an easier last 10 minutes for us."
