Sunderland have emerged as the surprise odds-on favourites to sign the Fulham star after a much-discussed move to Liverpool failed to materialise. Dempsey looks likely to leave Craven Cottage after the USA striker fell out with manager Martin Jol over comments made about a potential switch and as a result has yet to feature this season. The Reds remain second favourites to seal his signature, after a superb 2011/12 campaign which saw him score 17 goals, with Arsenal also in contention in the transfer betting.
Stoke have been on-off favourites to sign free agent Owen since his Manchester United exit, with Everton also proving popular with Sky Bet punters. Potters boss Tony Pulis is known for his last-minute deals having brought in a whole host of stars on deadline day in previous seasons. Owen's calibre would usually command mass interest, but questions remain over his injury record and ability to rediscover the form of former glory days. Aston Villa, Bolton, Cardiff, Norwich, QPR and Sunderland have all also attracted money but their respective odds have drifted out significantly with the Potters and Everton thought to be in a two-way battle.
No stranger to a headline-grabbing move at the end of the transfer window, Liverpool striker Carroll has been linked with a move away from Anfield for some time now, with a return to Newcastle looking the most likely destination. The arrival of Fabio Borini looks to have pushed Carroll further down the pecking order and the 24-year-old has been benched for both of Liverpool's Premier League matches. The Magpies head the betting at Sky Bet to re-sign the player they sold to the Reds in January 2011 for £35 million, with the online betting company viewing West Ham as contenders to snap-up the England striker.

The arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United has surely pushed Berbatov even further down the pecking order as Sir Alex Ferguson has a wealth of attacking options to play with. Wayne Rooney's thigh injury could be the only factor that could keep the Bulgarian at Old Trafford, but with Van Persie, Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Angelo Henriquez in contention, the 31-year-old may look elsewhere. Serie A side Fiorentina are favourites, with Roma also fancied to snap up the former Tottenham man.
One of Kenny Dalglish's signings that failed to make an impact at Anfield in his first season, Adam has been linked with a move after new boss Brendan Rodgers signed midfield dynamo Joe Allen from Swansea. With Fulham looking set to lose Clint Dempsey, the Cottagers headed the betting for most of the summer, but Everton have emerged as favourites as deadline day looms and Celtic are also in the mix. Whether the former Rangers man would welcome a move to the other side of the Old Firm or move across Merseyside remains to be seen, but with his first team options limited, the Toffees could be an attractive option.
