Experienced forward joins top flight new boys

Primera Liga newcomers Rayo Vallecano have snapped up former Spain international Raul Tamudo. The experienced striker has penned a one-year contract. Rayo confirmed the deal on Friday, ahead of the belated start to the new Spanish season. The 33-year-old will bring plenty of top flight know-how with him, having spent 14 years with Espanyol before joining Real Sociedad 12 months ago. He netted seven goals in 31 appearances last term. Tamudo represented Spain on 13 occasions earlier in his career and scored five times. He joins Rayo following their promotion back into the top tier following an eight-year absence.
