Impossible to pick
Albert Ferrer told Revista it's too hard to say whether Messi or Ronaldo is the better player.

Real Madrid and Barcelona could not be separated in the first El Clasico of the season on Sunday and neither can their stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, according to former Barca defender Albert Ferrer.
The world's two best players each scored twice as their teams drew 2-2 at the Camp Nou in a thrilling encounter, which leaves Barcelona top of the table and eight points ahead of Madrid, who are in fifth.
After the fantastic individual displays from Messi and Ronaldo, Ferrer told Revista that it is impossible to pick between the two top talents in world football.
"They are so different and each player is perfect for the system they are in," he said. "Messi is perfect for the Barcelona system, controlling the ball, while Ronaldo is perfect for the Real Madrid system, which is more on the counter attack.
"But at the end of the day both of them are very good at scoring which is basically the most important thing. They are completely different. I don't know how Ronaldo would play at Barcelona and I don't know how Messi would play at Real Madrid. But I wouldn't say who the best is. I think they are the same."
Journalist Graham Hunter believes Ronaldo has closed the gap between with Messi but not enough for the Real Madrid forward to be crowned the best player in the world by wrenching away the Ballon d'Or from three-time winner Messi in January - which will hurt the Madrid player, according to Hunter.
"The voting system is set up such that Messi will win," said Hunter. "I think the gap has closed. I am not being at all snide - I defend Ronaldo a lot - but Jose Mourinho knows how much it will hurt Ronaldo when he does not win it again, because he really cares about it.
"I don't mean that in a snide way at all. It will really hurt him but come back to me in January because I really think Messi will win it again."
Fellow Revista pundit Guillem Balague believes Messi and Ronaldo raise their games when in direct competition and says it has been fascinating to see how they have evolved as players in recent years.
"It makes for interesting viewing when they face each other because they make each other better players," he told Revista. "There is no doubt about that. Jose Mourinho said both are good while Villanova said Messi is the best.
"The progression of those two in the last couple of years is also fascinating because Barcelona are becoming more of a Messi team and Ronaldo is becoming more of a team player."
