GA: We can only blame ourselves

Graham Alexander felt Fleetwood only had themselves to blame for not taking anything from the derby with Morecambe.

The Shrimps moved level with their coastal neighbours thanks to the only goal of the game from Padraig Amond in the 18th minute. But the second half belonged to Fleetwood and they almost snatched a draw deep in injury time when Mark Roberts diverted a shot on goal but Morecambe skipper Mark Hughes cleared off the line. He said: "It's a difficult one for me to take really because it was virtually one way traffic for much of the game but we shot ourselves in the foot in both boxes. "We have conceded early now for two games in succession and we can't keep putting ourselves in the situation where we have to come back from behind. "We have scored a lot of goals this season but we can't keep putting the pressure on our forwards because when you put yourselves on the back foot you get frustrated and you start making wrong decisions and that is what happened. "If we hadn't conceded I am sure we would have taken one of our chances because there would have been less pressure. "We have lost three game in quick succession now and we are in a bit of a difficult period at the minute and we have to show some mental strength to get back on track as soon as possible."
