On paper Swansea looked dangerous opponents but for all their initial fluency they couldn't match United's class in front of goal.
Though he gave little away after the match, David Moyes must have been absolutely delighted with the ruthlessness of his new charges, who showed their class and experience all over the pitch.
United looked neither as potent as Chelsea nor as powerful as Manchester City on the opening weekend, but they showed enough to suggest they will take some shifting from their seat of power.
Next up its Aston Villa and Liverpool - two sides who look like they're heading in the right direction - whose fans expectations are growing by the week.
As Liverpool edged Stoke at home, Villa pulled off the result of the day winning at Arsenal but were you really surprised?
Arsenal were vulnerable. They were bound to play on the front foot and few teams are as devastating on the counter attack as this Villa side.
It may be a different story for Paul Lambert's men at home, where last season they often struggled to open visiting teams up.
Liverpool were their biggest scalp of the campaign but that was at Anfield, and the Reds were one of nine teams to win at Villa Park.
Since then Brendan Rodgers has recruited well and though he hasn't yet added the marquee signing the Kop craves, Liverpool look well placed to give us another hugely entertaining Saturday night.
