We take a look at 10 players who had stints at both Stamford Bridge and Anfield during their careers

Ahead of this week's Super Sunday at Stamford Bridge, we take a look at 10 players who wore both the blue of Chelsea and also the red of Liverpool during their careers. A rivalry has developed between the two sides after meetings in recent years but it hasn't stopped a large number of players switching between the clubs - including three who could be in action on Sunday. Here's just ten of the players who have experienced life in West London and on Merseyside with varying degrees of success.

Fernando Torres

Following his £20million move from Atletico Madrid in 2007, Torres got his Liverpool career off to a flyer, scoring on his Anfield debut against Chelsea. He became the fastest player in Liverpool history to score 50 league goals before leaving Anfield to join Chelsea in January 2011 for a British record £50million after 65 goals in 102 Premier League games. He made his Chelsea debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool and he failed to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge as quickly as he did at Liverpool with it taking 903 minutes of football for him to finally open his account in a 3-0 win against West Ham.

Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson was the first signing of Chelsea's Roman Abramovich era, signing from West Ham for £6million in the summer of 2003. Johnson made 41 appearances for Chelsea where he picked up winners' medals in the Premier League and League Cup in the 2004/05 season. Having fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, Johnson joined Portsmouth on loan in 2006. Although he returned to Chelsea for the start of the 2007/08 season, on transfer deadline day he signed for Portsmouth permanently where he lifted the FA Cup in 2008. He was named in the Premier League team of the year for the 2008/09 season and joined Liverpool for £17.5million in the following summer.

Joey Jones

Bob Paisley paid £110,000 to Wrexham for Welsh full-back Joey Jones in 1975. Boyhood Liverpool fan Jones spent three years at Liverpool where he won the European Cup twice, the First Division and the Uefa Cup. He made 72 league appearances for Liverpool but the emergence of Alan Hansen started to keep him out of the side and he returned to Wrexham in 1978. He then joined Chelsea four years later and he became a cult hero at Stamford Bridge where he was part of the side which was crowned Second Division champions in the 1983/84 season.

Nicolas Anelka

Nicolas Anelka joined Liverpool on loan from Paris St Germain in 2001 where he scored four goals in 20 league appearances. In between playing for Liverpool and Chelsea, Anelka has played for Manchester City, Fenerbache and Bolton Wanderers. Whilst at City he inflicted a first defeat on Jose Mourinho as Chelsea manager. Anelka joined Chelsea in January 2008, signing from Bolton for £15million. In his four years at Chelsea he netted 37 goals in 125 league appearances before joining Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua last January.

Joe Cole

Joe Cole joined former West Ham team-mate Johnson in moving to Stamford Bridge in summer 2003. Whilst at Chelsea he lifted the Premier League and FA Cup three times each as well as the League Cup twice. He was also selected in the PFA team of the year in 2006 and was named Chelsea Player of the Year in 2008. Cole then struggled with injuries throughout the following two seasons and he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2010 when his contract at Stamford Bridge expired. He struggled for fitness and fell out of favour following Roy Hodgson's departure and he joined French side Lille on a season-long loan in the summer of 2011.

Raul Meireles

Liverpool signed Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles from Porto for a fee of £11.5million in August 2010. Meireles went on to make 35 league appearances in his one season at Liverpool, scoring five goals including the only goal in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Torres incidentally made his Chelsea debut in the same game. Meireles then left Liverpool to join Chelsea in August 2011. He lifted his first trophy in England when he came on as a second-half substitute during Chelsea's 2-1 FA Cup final victory against Liverpool, although he was suspended for the Champions League final. Meireles has since joined Turkish side Fenerbache.

Boudewijn Zenden

In 2001 Chelsea signed Dutch winger Boudewijn Zenden from Barcelona for £7.5million. He spent three years at Chelsea although he only managed to make 42 league appearances, mainly due to injury. Zenden then joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan where he had a successful spell, scoring the winning goal in the 2004 League Cup final and he joined them permanently on a free transfer the following season. He left for Liverpool in 2005, and whilst at Anfield he picked up a Champions League runners-up medal in 2007 but missed the 2006 FA Cup final with injury.

David Speedie

Scottish striker David Speedie signed for Chelsea around the same time as Jones when he arrived from Darlington. He spent five years at Stamford Bridge where he formed a prolific strike partnership with Kerry Dixon. Speedie became the first player since Geoff Hurst to score a hat-trick at Wembley when Chelsea beat Manchester City 5-4 in the Full Members Cup Final. He scored 47 league goals in 162 appearances before he left to join Coventry City. In 1991 Kenny Dalglish brought Speedie to Anfield and he scored on his debut at Manchester United. Speedie was then sold to Blackburn before moving on to Southampton where he joined up with former Chelsea strike partner Dixon.

Nigel Spackman

Nigel Spackman also played in the same Second Division winning side as Speedie and Jones, having signed for Chelsea in 1983 from Bournemouth. Spackman made 141 appearances in his first stint at Chelsea before joining Liverpool for £400,000 in 1987 following a fall out with manager John Hollins. He was a regular in the Liverpool side after Ronnie Whelan picked up an injury and the Reds went on to lift the title. He then had spells at QPR and Rangers before re-joining Chelsea in 1992 where he made a further 67 league appearances in a four -year spell.

Yossi Benayoun

Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun signed for Liverpool from West Ham in 2007 and he went on to make 92 league appearances, scoring 18 goals in his three-year spell. He then joined Chelsea in 2010 although he has only made eight league appearances for them having spent last season on loan at Arsenal and currently being on loan at former club West Ham.
