Remi Allen's second-half strike earned Birmingham Ladies a 1-0 win over Notts County, sending the Blues third heading into the mid-season break.

Birmingham, who are unbeaten in the league this season, deserved all three points after controlling the game in the second half but Notts County had the better chances in the first.

Angharad James missed an easy first-half chance for County and the home side had goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley to thank for going into the break on level terms, after fine saves to deny Ellen White and Jade Clarke.

But six minutes after the restart Allen pounced, scoring what proved to be the only goal of the game.

Jo Potter saw her shot parried by Lady Pies stopper Carly Telford, allowing Allen to run the ball into the back of the net, despite Telford protesting that the midfielder had handled the ball.
