Manchester City Women are closing in on the signing of two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year Carli Lloyd, Sky sources understand.
A contract is understood to be close to being finalised with the 232-cap USA international that could see her join City as early as this month.
Lloyd has spent the last two seasons at Houston Dash after joining the Texas outfit from fellow National Women's Soccer League side Western New York Flash.
Lloyd helped USA win back-to-back Olympic gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and at Canada 2015 became the first player since Geoff Hurst to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
The 34-year-old is the 2016 Women's World Player of the Year, winning the award for the second year in succession.
Should Lloyd agree a deal to join City, she would become the third high-profile US Women's National Team player to move to England during the FA Women's Super League off-season.
Last month, Chelsea Ladies signed Crystal Dunn, while Arsenal Ladies agreed a deal to sign Heather O'Reilly, who is set to make her debut in an exhibition match celebrating the career of recently-retired Arsenal and England legend Kelly Smith.
