Newport have signed forward Sean Rigg on a two-year contract following his release by AFC Wimbledon.

Rigg, 27, was part of the squad which saw the Dons win promotion to Sky Bet League One last season, but he did not get off the bench in May's play-off final victory over Plymouth at Wembley.

Speaking to the official website Rigg said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Newport.

"This time of year is obviously a stressful time for players and you want to get your future sorted as soon as possible, so I'm buzzing that a deal has been agreed and now I'm looking forward to the start of pre-season.

"Newport are a club on the up, so it's an exciting time to be joining the club."

Manager Warren Feeney added: "Sean has got the experience of promotion from this level, so that is obviously going to be a huge benefit to us.

"I remember Sean from his time at Port Vale where he was used as a striker, but he also gives you an option out wide, which will help us tremendously.

"He has got the right mentality to succeed in this division and what I like most about him is that he is a very loyal character and I'm sure that he will be a very good addition for us."

Newport have also announced the signing of winger Jack Compton on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old made 20 league appearances for Yeovil last term, scoring four goals.

Speaking to County's official website, Compton said: "I'm delighted to get everything signed and over the line today.

"It is good to be back playing in Wales. My friends and family are used to travelling across the country to see me play, so playing so close to home will make it a lot easier for them, and that can only benefit me on the pitch."

"I'm an out and out winger and I like to attack defenders and hopefully create chances for the players around me."

Feeney added: "Jack is another signing that has a great deal of experience at this level.

"I am a big fan of my wingers and Jack has got a great left foot and has a great amount of pace.

"The squad is starting to shape up quite nicely. There are a couple of more faces to come in, but I'm very happy with the signings we have been able to secure so far this summer."
