Simpson angry after Silkmen slip

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson slammed the decision for play to continue in the build-up to Oxford's late equaliser against his side.

Tony Diagne put the Silkmen in front on the hour mark when he headed in the rebound after on-loan striker Scott Boden fired a volley against the underside of the bar. With Tommy Tremarco down with a head injury, Robert Hall rescued the promotion-chasing Us in the second minute of injury time when his low shot which was deflected inside Jose Veiga's near post. "The referee allowed the game to continue when Tommy Tremarco was down with a head injury. I wouldn't have minded so much but he stopped the play for them in the first half for a similar incident," said Simpson. "Sure enough the ball got played into an area which Tommy would have occupied and they got a goal from that chance. We also had two blatant penalties. Scott Boden had his shirt pulled off his back and in the second half was absolutely felled. Both were blatant and I think the match officials will be embarrassed when they see the replay. "We are disappointed to lose a late goal and the players are really down but you've got to take it on the chin, perhaps this week we didn't get what we deserved but then last week (the win at Aldershot) we might have got more than we deserved."
