League Two round-up: Orient keep up good run with victory

A round-up of the weekend's Sky Bet League 2 action

Leyton Orient's unbeaten start to the Sky Bet League Two season continued with an impressive 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers at Brisbane Road on Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Paul McCallum was brought down in the area and Lloyd James converted the penalty.

Jay Simpson then doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time with a low strike into the corner of the net and Rovers were unable to respond in the second period.

Plymouth Argyle, second in the table, kept up the pressure with a narrow 1-0 win over Newport County as Graham Carey scored his fourth goal of the campaign three minutes before the interval.

Hartlepool, meanwhile, slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Carlisle but only after defender Scott Harrison fired them into a sixth-minute lead following good work from Carl Magnay.

In-form striker Jabo Ibehre equalised for the visitors in the 57th minute and he got the winner after Tom Miller cancelled out Billy Paynter's coolly-taken penalty for the Victoria Park side.

Substitute Matt Tubbs scored a last-gasp winner as Portsmouth heaped further agony on Luton following their shoot-out Capital One Cup loss to Stoke in midweek.

Alan Goodall, Paul Mullin, Alex Kenyon and Jamie Devitt all scored, with just Genaro Snijders hitting back in reply.

Ade Azeez scored a late winner for AFC Wimbledon in their 2-1 success against Exeter. George Francomb was also on target, while Ryan Harley scored for the visitors.

Wycombe were held to a goalless draw at Crawley and it was also 0-0 in the game between Barnet and Cambridge.

Mansfield overcame York 2-1 thanks to a brace from Matt Green, while Josh Windass' penalty rescued a point for Accrington in a 1-1 draw with Northampton.

Dagenham and Stevenage finished 1-1 - Tom Hitchcock's goal cancelling out Ashley Hemmings' opener - while Oxford were 2-0 winners over Yeovil following goals from Danny Hylton and Callum O'Dowda.
