Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Bologna in Serie A on Sunday after a fine volley from Ivan Perisic.

Frank de Boer's side were chasing a fourth successive league victory, but found themselves behind after 14 minutes when Mattia Destro scored against his former club.

However, Perisic produced a superb finish on 37 minutes to level things up before half-time.

Inter, though, were unable to conjure a winner with defender Andrea Ranocchia heading a great chance wide in stoppage time, and so could not close up the gap on leaders Juventus, whom they now trail by four points.

Iago Falque's brace handed Joe Hart's Torino a 3-1 home victory over Roma for the first time since 1990 while Balde Diao Keita and Senad Lulic were both on target as Lazio secured their second home win of the season by defeating Empoli 2-0.

Striker Keita fired home in the 29th minute and Bosnian midfielder Lulic made sure of the points by heading home in the final minute as Lazio climbed up to fifth place in the table. Empoli remain in the bottom three.

Josip Ilicic missed a first-half penalty as Fiorentina were held to a goalless draw by AC Milan, who were indebted to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Slovenia international Ilicic hit the post with his spot-kick midway through the first period, while an inspired display by Donnarumma kept the home side at bay.

Vincenzo Montella's Milan, winners of their previous two matches, remain sixth in the Serie A table, but can count themselves lucky against Fiorentina, who have now kept four clean sheets in six games this season.

Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid coach and former Argentina captain Diego, scored his first Serie A goal to help Genoa draw 1-1 with Pescara despite finishing with nine men

A first-half strike from Gregoire Defrel earned Sassuolo a 1-0 win over visitors Udinese, who twice hit the woodwork in the closing minutes.
