Northampton v Aldershot preview

Team news for Saturday afternoon's League Two clash between Northampton and Aldershot at Sixfields.

Northampton manager Ian Sampson has no fresh injury concerns to contend with for the visit of Aldershot. Midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn was back on the bench for the 3-3 draw with Morecambe on Tuesday after an ankle injury and is in contention for a starting role. Fellow midfielder Abdul Osman sits out the second of his three-match ban following his red card at Port Vale last weekend so Sampson must decide who will partner Josh Walker in the middle. Kevin Thornton started there on Tuesday and scored but the more defensive Wedderburn is an option as the Cobblers look to return to winning ways after a run of three straight draws. Midfielder Ryan Gilligan is on loan at Torquay while striker Tadhg Purcell is still sidelined with the serious knee injury which ended his season in August. Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth has a fully-fit squad available for the trip to Northampton. Midfielder John Halls made his long-awaited return from a groin injury as a late substitute in the midweek draw with Lincoln and will travel to Sixfields. Halls has made just 30 appearances in the last two seasons due to niggling injury concerns but could play his part in the remainder of the season. Venezuelan goalkeeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz will continue on the bench as he starts his second spell with the club after his international clearance came through. Youngster Jack Randall broke his leg while on loan at Didcot Town recently and is out long-term, striker Damian Spencer is still on loan at Eastbourne Borough and defender Anthony Straker is at Wycombe.
