Nurnberg took three Bundesliga points by beating Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 in their last game at the Frankenstadion in 2012.

Sebastian Polter and Markus Feulner scored the goals which gave Nurnberg three Bundesliga points by beating Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 in their last game at the Frankenstadion in 2012. Feulner was in sparkling form for the hosts, setting up Polter for the opening goal in the 27th minute before sealing the win himself in stoppage time at the end of a one-sided match. Fabian Giefer did his best to keep Dusseldorf in the game, but there was little he could do to prevent a defeat which saw the visitors fall behind Nurnberg into 15th place. Feulner was restored to the Nurnberg starting XI since Hiroshi Kiyotake had the flu, and it proved to be an inspired change with the former Bayern Munich midfielder enjoying an enterprising start to the game. His first cross from the right was headed wide by Hanno Balitsch before another dangerous ball was volleyed over by Timo Gebhart. Unsurprisingly, Feulner was the provider of the opening goal in the 27th minute when his cross - a low one this time - picked out Polter, who found a way through the defence and got the decisive touch from close range to put Nurnberg in front. Dusseldorf were unable to stem the flow of dangerous crosses from the Nurnberg right and another Feulner delivery was headed straight at Giefer by Javier Pinola. The visitors' only real threat came from a Dani Schahin header which was cleared off the line by Timothy Chandler on the hour mark, but Giefer was kept busy as Nurnberg pushed for a second. Feulner and Almog Cohen were both denied by the Fortuna custodian, but the former had the final say with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the penalty area, bringing a perfect end to football in 2012 in Nurnberg.
