Oxford v Newport County preview

Image: Sean Rigg: Sidelined with a hamstring problem

Team news for Tuesday's League Two clash between Oxford United and Newport County at the Kassam.

The U's will be without in-form winger Sean Rigg when they host the Exiles. The 25-year-old picked up a hamstring problem in the second half of the 3-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday and, while the severity of the injury is being assessed, he looks certain to miss the clash with the Exiles. Manager Chris Wilder, already without a number of senior players including Alfie Potter, Jake Wright, Deane Smalley and Andy Whing through injury, could replace Rigg with Callum O'Dowda or Scott Davies. The U's head into the clash top of the League Two table but they sit just five points clear of Justin Edinburgh's in-form Newport who include former Oxford players Adam Chapman and Harry Worley in their ranks. Newport have no fresh injury worries as they prepare to take on League Two leaders Oxford at the Kassam. Captain David Pipe is available again after he served the final game of his three-match suspension in the 0-0 draw with Cheltenham on Saturday. The Exiles added Brighton striker George Barker to their squad last week and the 22-year-old looks set to feature again having made his debut as a late substitute on the weekend. That was the Exiles' fourth successive clean sheet and they look set to be unchanged as they are still without long-term absentees Max Porter, Andy Sandell, Byron Anthony and Chris Zebroski.
