AC Milan picked up their first win away from home since mid-October, and only their third of the season, by beating Palermo 2-1 at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Alessio Cerci gave Filippo Inzaghi's men the lead after 37 minutes, but a Paulo Dybala penalty brought the hosts level in the 72nd minute.

Jeremy Menez restored Milan's lead 10 minutes later, earning them all three points and keeping their hopes alive of qualifying for Europe next season.

Palermo took the game to their opponents with their three-man attack searching for weaknesses in the Rossoneri rearguard.

Robin Quaison found one midway through the first half when he burst through three Milan defenders before sending Dybala towards the goal-line.

The Argentinian's pass across goal was a golden invitation for Vazquez to give the hosts the lead, but he placed his shot wide of the gaping goal.

It was an embarrassing miss which nearly proved costly within seconds as Cerci sent in a cross which Mattia Destro lifted just over the crossbar.

Milan's next chance was taken with Cerci this time on the end of Marco Van Ginkel's cross to score his first goal for the Rossoneri.

Just a few minutes later, Palermo thought they had levelled but the goal was ruled out for offside with Luca Rigoni drifting just beyond the last defender before Edgar Barreto dispatched his effort.

It was Milan's turn to have a goal ruled out for offside early in the second half with Destro denied by a matter of inches, just before Palermo had a penalty appeal waved away after Rigoni went down inside the penalty area.

They got a penalty in the 71st minute when Andrea Belotti tripped over Gabriel Paletta's leg, and Dybala brought the hosts level with his well-placed spot-kick.

The game opened up with both sides keen to take all three points and chances falling at both ends.

Palermo committed too many men forwards, though, and a huge gap opened up for Menez to burst into, and as Stefano Sorrentino came out to meet him, the Frenchman lifted his shot just underneath the crossbar for what would prove to be the winner.
