Kilmarnock drew 1-1 at Scottish Premiership rivals Partick Thistle to bring their run of five defeats in a row to an end.

Killie were looking to avoid equalling a club record for successive losses and Tope Obadeyi gave them an early lead, but Daniel Seaborne levelled soon afterwards and neither side could get the winner during a tight second half.

The sides produced quite a niggly encounter on a cold and wet day at Firhill and there was an early flare-up after a forceful challenge from Partick's Christie Elliott on Mark Connolly.

And Kilmarnock then took the lead in the 11th minute when Lee Miller got on the end of a Josh Magennis cross and, although Paul Gallacher produced a superb save from his close-range volley, Obadeyi was on hand to tap the ball into the net from close range.

But Partick equalised eight minutes later, an unmarked Seaborne powering a header into the net after getting on the end of a Stuart Bannigan free-kick.

Jake Carroll then shot over the bar from distance before the break as Partick looked to grab the lead before Killie goalkeeper Craig Samson did well to back-pedal and tip an inswinging Bannigan free-kick over the crossbar.

Killie then had a chance but captain Manuel Pascali seemed to block a shot from his fellow defender Connelly, after Sammy Clingan had rifled a free-kick into the box from the by-line.

The second half was a somewhat laboured affair, although there was a half-chance for Partick when Samson failed to deal with a Brannigan free-kick and Abdul Osman headed over.

However, it was the visitors who came closest to snatching the three points in the second half,  Partick 'keeper Gallacher doing really well to parry Obadeyi’s angled drive after the forward had latched onto a Jamie Hamill pass.

Thistle's James Craigen then had a low shot deflected wide for a corner and, in the end, a point apiece was probably a fair reflection of proceedings.
