Two sides with promotion aspirations meet at Home Park on Saturday as Plymouth play host to Cardiff. Argyle currently sit on the fringes of the play-off places, with only two wins in their last five Championship outings hindering their progress. Cardiff, meanwhile, got back to winning ways last weekend, after suffering back-to-back defeats, and will be looking to cement their place inside the top six.

Plymouth team news

Plymouth are boosted by the return of five-goal top scorer Paul Gallagher ahead of the weekend contest. The on-loan Blackburn striker was forced to sit out the 1-0 win at Coventry last weekend due to a one-match suspension, but should come straight back into the starting line-up, with Jamie Mackie set to drop to the bench. Steve MacLean will be hoping to return to the starting line-up after being left out in favour of Emile Mpenza last weekend, while youngster Craig Noone is again set to be among the replacements after coming off the bench to score the only goal against the Sky Blues. Argyle are also boosted by the return to training of Hungary centre-back Krisztian Timar. Timar has recovered from a knee ligament injury that has ruled him out for two weeks and as long as he suffers no adverse reaction could be in Saturday's squad as defensive cover on the bench. Right-back David McNamee (thigh) is ruled out through injury.
Cardiff team news
On-loan Wayne Routledge should make his Cardiff debut as boss Dave Jones battles an injury crisis. The Aston Villa winger has signed an initial two-month loan deal at Ninian Park and appears certain to be handed an immediate bow for the Bluebirds. Jones suffered a huge blow this week with the news Joe Ledley (finger) will be out for around three weeks and fellow midfielder Peter Whittingham (ankle) for three months. Strikers Ross McCormack and Jay Bothroyd will be out for another two weeks after picking up hamstring problems, meaning Michael Chopra should again start alongside Eddie Johnson in attack. Long-term absentees Riccardo Scimeca (groin) and Tony Capaldi (hamstring) are both expected to return in approximately six weeks' time. Left-back Miguel Comminges is available again after a one-match ban and will battle Mark Kennedy for a place in the starting XI.
