Plymouth v Southend preview

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Plymouth and Southend at Home Park.

Plymouth's first transfer from another club in four years will go straight into the squad for their clash with Southend. Jason Banton joined from Crystal Palace earlier this week after a successful loan spell last season and he is set to be included against Phil Brown's in-form side. But while Banton's addition proved to be a big boost for manager John Sheridan, he will have been upset that Caolan Lavery had been recalled from his loan spell by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday after three goals in four starts for the Pilgrims. Tope Obadeyi's spell at Home Park is also over after he returned to parent club Bury following the 2-2 draw away to Port Vale in the FA Cup third round on Sunday. Southend will be hoping captain John White is passed fit for the trip to Plymouth. The right-back was forced off in the closing stages of last weekend's memorable 4-1 FA Cup victory over Millwall after his shoulder popped out of its socket. Boss Phil Brown made three changes against the Lions and Cauley Woodrow, Kevan Hurst and Mark Phillips will be pushing for recalls at Home Park. Adam Thompson was one of those to come in for the cup clash in what was the final appearance of his six-month loan stay from Watford, but the Shrimpers have this week snapped up the defender on a permanent deal and he is available to face the Pilgrims.
