FULL-TIME: Preston 0 Liverpool 4. Liverpool kick off their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 4-0 win at Deepdale. First half goals from Coutinho (penalty) and Jordon Ibe were added to by second half goals from Raheem Sterling and Iago Aspas.
Cansdell-Sherriff gets on the end of Holmes' free-kick, but he hits his header into the ground and straight at Ward.
Holmes wins a free-kick for Preston down the left after beating Skrtel. Chance to get a good ball into the box.
Alberto has a chance to mark his debut with a goal as he is picked out by Downing, but his effort is weak and is easily saved by Stuckmann.
Liverpool make another change and it is a welcome return for Martin Kelly as he replaces Robinson in defence. It is Kelly's first appearance since a serious knee injury picked up last September.
Nice turn on the edge of the box from Sterling, but he hits his left-footed shot wide of the target.
Decent effort from Pacheco as he wins the ball on the edge of the box before hitting his half volley just wide of the target.
GOAL: Liverpool make it 4-0 as Aspas gets in on the act as his shot from the edge of the box beats Stuckmann who seemed to lose track of the ball.
Nice skill from Aspas sees him nutmeg Davies to work his way into the box, but Stuckmann is out quickly to gather the ball.
Downing's shot from the edge of the box is deflected off Holmes before running through to Stuckmann.
From the corner Skrtel rises highest to meet Downing's cross, but he fails to direct his header on target.
Iain Hume has a shot from the edge of the box for Preston, but it is too high and flies over the crossbar.
GOAL: Liverpool got 3-0 as Aspas slips Sterling through on goal and the winger keeps his cool before rounding Stuckmann to slot the ball into the empty net. Great counter attack from the visitors.

Good run from Pacheco sees him get inside the box, but he runs out of pitch as he ball goes behind for a goalkick.
Great run from Sterling as he cuts in past Clarke and fizzes in a shot which Stuckmann does well to palm out.

Downing heads the ball down into the path of Aspas, but Clarke gets back to head the ball back to his keeper.

Alberto works a one-two with Downing on the edge of the box, but he gets his shot all wrong and it runs through to Stuckmann in the Preston goal.
RESTART: Preston make eight changes at the break, while Liverpool make ten changes of their own with only Mignolet remaining from the starting XI.
Brendan Rodgers will be happy with his side's opening 45 minutes of pre-season, but plenty of changes expected at the break.
HALF-TIME: The referee brings the first half to a close with Liverpool leading 2-0 thanks to Coutinho's penalty and Jordon Ibe's goal.
Another wasted opportunity from Preston as Clarke's cross from the right is too high and runs out of play.
Welsh has the chance to get a ball into the box from a free-kick, but it is overhit and runs straight out of play.

Ten minutes gone and we have the first serious effort on goal with Agger firing in a powerful shot from 25 yards which Rudd does well to palm out. Decent effort from the Liverpool skipper.
Coutinho has a shot from the edge of the box, but it deflects off Huntington and straight through to Rudd in the Preston goal.
Ibe almost plays in Coutinho down the left, but the Brazilian is unable to keep the ball in after lifting it over Clarke with a superb piece of skill.
Both sides are playing for the The Shankly Shield in tribute to former manager of both clubs Bill Shankly.
