Paris St Germain opened up a 16-point lead over second placed Monaco at the summit of Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory over outclassed Reims. Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after prodding home Gregory van der Wiel's pass, but the real damage was done by blundering Reims defender Aissa Mandi. Mandi turned into his own net just three minutes into the second half with the ball hitting a post and deflecting in off the Algerian right-back. And Mandi looked on in horror as he was also at fault for PSG's third, this time scoring in his own net in the 89th minute of the contest as he attempted to clear a cross. It was Reims' fourth successive away defeat, but they had chances to peg back PSG with Prince Oniangue and the hapless Mandi going close in the second half. The victory extended PSG's winning Ligue 1 run to eight games and continues a fine season which sees them closing in on a place in the Champions League semi-finals. They defeated Chelsea 3-1 on Wednesday night and visit Stamford Bridge for the second leg on Tuesday. With that game in mind boss Laurent Blanc made eight changes against Reims, among them the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is out with a thigh injury, but PSG were still too strong for their mid-table opponents. Monaco host Nantes on Sunday knowing their challenge is to hold off Lille and make sure they finish runners-up behind the capital side.
