Reading 0 Man City 2. The Blues start life post-Roberto Mancini with a comfortable win. The Royals played well, but didn't have enough on the day.
Final seconds at the Madejski and City are easing their way over the line. Silva slides a pass in between the Reading centre-halves, but Tevez isn't on his wavelength.
Tevez so close to making it three. He plays a neat one-two with Dzeko and cuts across the box. He looks to fire into the corner, but is denied by McCarthy. Corner played short, but Milner can't find a cross or a shot and then concedes a free-kick.
Dzeko unable to run away from Karacan. Reading still looking to play football. Guthrie tries to feed a pass into the feet of Blackman, but too much on the ball.
Harsh on Reading given how they have defended, but City have threatened to run away with this tie at times. They have deserved all three points.
GOAL MAN CITY - DZEKO. The gloves have done business as Dzeko steps off the bench again to get himself on the scoresheet. Reading give the ball away in their own half, allowing Silva to find Dzeko. He cuts inside Kelly and rolls the ball under McCarthy.
Toure feeds over a cross-shot, with Morrison clears. McCleary allowed to race Reading forward again. He has been a useful out ball for the hosts, but his final pass lets him down.
Tevez takes the corner short to Milner. He squares for Toure, who sees a swerving drive from 25 yards out touched over by McCarthy. The second corner comes to nothing.
Milner drifting further inside, as Maicon offers width outside him. Reading battling away bravely in midfield. They are forced backwards, with Clichy winning a corner of Mariappa.
Reading looking to finish with a flourish. They have started to ask a few more questions in the second half. They have to be awake at the back, though, as Tevez drives into box. Toure ends up slicing into the stands.
Guthrie spreads play wide to Kelly. He gets the ball back off McCleary and goes square. Guthrie tees up Karacan, who stings the hands of Hart from 25 yards.
City prepared to go back to Hart. He goes long, but Silva offers little effort in an aerial challenge. Toure takes over and surges forward. Tevez unable to spin away from Morrison.
Le Fondre moves out to the Reading right. He is faced by Clichy, and fires off the City man for a corner. Guthrie delivers once more, looking for Morrison again. His nod down finds a City shirt. Kelly trips Dzeko as he looks to counter.
Wild effort from Dzeko. He is found by Tevez 25 yards from goal, but is always leaning back and hammers high over the crossbar. City still only leading by one and anything is possible.
The second corner comes to nothing. City can't get out, though, and are relieved to see the flag go up against Blackman. Hart able to hammer down field.
Guthrie looks for Morrison at the back post. He nods down to Robson-Kanu, but he can't turn in the box. He tees up McCleary, who sees a shot deflected behind by Lescott. The corner picks out Mariappa, who sees a header nodded off the line by Tevez.
Hand ball by the gloved man Dzeko. Unfortunate as the ball flicked off his shoulder onto his arm. Reading looking to force the issue now and Garcia has to trip Karacan. No card brandished again.
Guthrie with a great delivery to the back post, which is nodded back across goal. Hart comes off his line trying to claim and wins himself a free-kick.
Reading still looking to play their football. Kelly is picked out well forward down their left. He is caught by a wild bundled challenge from Milner.
Silva feeds the ball into Dzeko, before getting it back. He shoots straight at Mariappa. Reading have put in so many blocks in and around the box. There will be a few bruises being nursed at the end of the evening.
McCarthy forced into another save at the end of a flowing City move. A powerful 20-yard shot from Toure is touched over the top. Milner delivers from the set-piece towards Richards, but he can't direct the ball back across goal. Milner tries again, and allows Richards to send an acrobatic volley wide of the target.
Gunter well forward once more, but he goes square. Reading make a mess of things in midfield. Gunter could have thrown the ball into the box. The Royals need to pose more problems in areas like that.
Silva drifts to the right, before bursting towards the box. He slides a pass into Dzeko. He opts against a first-time cross, checking onto his left foot. His final shot has the sting taken out of it and McCarthy can dive on the ball.
Blackman involved right away and wins Reading their first corner of the night. Lively start. Guthrie delivers, but fires far too long. The ball ends up back with him and he skips inside Clichy. He dinks onto the head of Mariappa, who nods at Hart from 10 yards out.
The second change arrives for Reading. Skipper McAnuff, who has been quiet, is replaced by Blackman. Attacking switch by Adkins.
McAnuff finds space down the middle. He goes left to McCleary. His cross to the back post is nodded up in the air by Clichy, allowing Hart to step off his line and pluck the ball out of the air.
Flag up against Tevez. He is desperate to put an end to his barren run without a goal. Adkins preparing another switch on the sidelines. He has to start going for broke.
Richards forced back to Hart. Le Fondre will do more running up top for Reading than Pogrebnyak did. He does, however, still require support if he is to make a difference.
McCleary skips down the left, but has no support and Maicon halts him in his tracks. Guthrie then fires high into the box from deep, but Clichy can let the ball skip behind.
McCarthy looks to help Reading out from the back, but Gunter immediately goes long and the ball ends up with Hart. He slices wildly out of play, but got plenty of distance on his clearance.
Brian Kidd making his final switch as Aguero makes way for Dzeko. Both bosses have changed things up front. Dzeko, by the way, is wearing gloves...in May!
Tevez pulls wide to the left, where he links up with Silva. He is able to drift across the edge of the box before pulling the trigger. Not his best, as he hammers high into the crowd.
Aguero back on his feet, but is hobbling around. He looks to be okay to continue. Robson-Kanu looks to get Reading going, but is bundled off the ball by Clichy.
Hart clears his lines, but Kelly is underneath the goal kick. Reading then caught out as Milner slips into space. He whips over a dangerous delivery which Aguero dives at and injures himself in the process.
McCleary with a sloppy pass, which Silva doesn't make the most of. Maicon then trips Karacan. Reading looking to push men forward, with Gunter leading the charge. His cross from the right is poor and sails behind.
Maicon breaks forward, playing a one-two with Lescott. The City centre-half finds himself inside the box, and ends up putting the ball behind for a goal kick. Second change by City as Garcia replaces Barry.
Toure hurdles Mariaappa and finds Milner. He squares for silva, who sets the ball back for Toure. His low drive has to be touched around the post by McCarthy. Milner's corner comes to nothing.
Guthrie gives the ball away, but works really hard to get it back off Barry. Gunter invited forward from right-back, but nothing doing for the Royals. The ball ends up back with Hart, who hacks down field.
McCleary cuts inside Maicon, but his cross is easily dealt with by Richards. City can spring forward again with numbers. Tevez goes wide to Milner. Yet another cross is sent over, but behind Aguero.
Toure bursting over halfway. He spots Milner wide on the right. He floats the ball to Aguero at the back post, who has to nod down for a team-mate. The ball won't sit for Toure and he can't get a shot away.
Pogrebnyak thinks he has won a throw, but the decision goes the other way. Frustration for the hosts. Silva feeds the ball down the left for Clichy, who crosses long to Milner. He shoots from distance, but sees an effort blocked at source.
Milner delivers from the corner and Reading can't clear. Tevez gathers and cuts the ball back towards the penalty spot. All of those inside the box had pushed into the six-yard box and the ball runs behind them.
Brilliant save by Hart, but Pogrebnyak should have levelled. A cross from the right is delivered onto the head of the Russian striker six yards out, but he plants a header straight at Hart. City counter and Tevez sees a shot deflected over the top. Took too long to set himself.
Tevez dances past Kelly and fires in a cross-shot which McCarthy parries out. McCleary using his pace again to guide Reading forward. He carries the ball a long way, but can't threaten.
Robson-Kanu pulled up for a foul, allowing City to clear their lines. Reading unable to build periods of pressure. It's been far too easy for City at times.
Milner slips past Kelly. He has four to aim at in the middle, but finds none of them as he scuffs his cross along the deck. Reading counter through Robson-Kanu, who sees his run cut out inside the box.
Toure turns the ball around the corner for Milner. Free-kick given against Kelly as he caught Toure late. He has stayed down and may require treatment. He was too quick for the Reading full-back. Toure back on his feet.
Morrison across to cut out a run from Aguero. City looking to get back on the front foot from the off. Reading need to push up a bit and make life difficult for the visitors.
Players back out for the second half, with Reading the first to emerge. Can they find a route back into the game, or will City continue to control matters?
Matt Stafford says: "Absolutely gutted with Man City's decision to fire Mancini, really short-sighted of the board. I think most City fans were really happy about the direction the club going and the way Mubarak was handling things, but this decision was really bad. The person that really should have been fired is Brian Marwood who failed to bring in the transfers Mancini requested. It's his fault more than anyone else and whilst they're calling him a taxi they should get one for Txiki Begiristain too."

Toure dropping very deep to take the ball off Richards. Barry then spins through midfield, but Reading drag numbers back quickly and City struggle to pick their way through.
Silva striding forward again and has Barry running past him. He crosses for Tevez. He nods goalwards from six yards out and McCarthy somehow diverts the ball over the top. Flag up against Tevez, but the Reading keeper wasn't to know that.

Space for Gunter on the right. He allows Robson-Kanu to take over, but his cross is easily nodded clear by Barry. City playing along their back four again, with Reading prepared to sit off and let them have the ball.
Game being played at walking pace at times. Someone needs to provide a spark. Silva could be that man, as he slides Milner down the right. He cuts the ball back towards the penalty spot, but no-one there for City.
Reading get 10 men behind the ball, and force an error from Maicon. Mariappa then puts in a well-timed challenge on Tevez. Reading working hard to keep the door bolted, but aren't offering too much going the other way.
Guthrie eased off the ball by Silva. Toure then finds Milner, who looks to send a disguised pass into Tevez. Again, the final ball is lacking. Milner tries again, but whips a cross onto the head of Morrison.

Maicon introduced in place of Toure. The Brazilian will slot in at right-back, allowing Richards to move across into the middle. Not a bad replacement to have up your sleeve - another seasoned international.
Toure shaking his head, his evening appears to be over. He hobbles towards the sidelines. First problem for Brian Kidd to deal with.
Lescott back to Hart, who is another facing up to a long evening. He rolls the ball out to Kolo Toure, who goes down with no-one near him. Not a good sign. Looks like he has tweaked a muscle.
Morrison cuts out a Barry pass intended for Aguero. McAnuff runs Reading over halfway, but he is caught by Barry and has his pocket picked. City playing across their midfield, before Pogrebnyak bundles Yaya Toure to the turf. Free-kick to City.
McCleary floats a cross towards Pogrebnyak at the back post. Clichy wins their aerial battle. City can't clear initially, but then wina throw.
Richards has suffered a blow to the nose. He is now sporting two fetching bunches of cotton wool up his nostrils. Back under way and Barry is almost caught in possession by McCleary. City happy to go backwards to go forwards.
Good hold-up play from Pogrebnyak, who may be in for a long night as he is very isolated. Reading forced backwards and McCarthy ends up slicing out for a throw. Richards requires treatment.

Pre-match formalities out of the way and we are almost ready for the off. Horrible conditions - with wind and rain - hopefully that hasn't set the tone for what is to come!
Brian Kidd already in his seat. Players in the tunnel, so we will have to leave the feedback there for now and turn our attention to the game. There will be further opportunities to have your say at half-time and at the final whistle.
Dylan Murphy Pegg is the latest to offer support to the departed Mancini. He says: "I think it's a bit harsh that Mancini got the sack. The FA Cup was disappointing, though I thought Wigan played really well! I don't think it was his fault that they didn't win the FA Cup it was a brilliant performance from Wigan!"
Adam Le Fondre picking up a Player of the Year award. He's fared admirably this season - his first in the Premier League.
Rain continues to fall as the players make their way back to the dressing rooms. Last chance for Adkins and Kidd to get their message across.
Banners in support of Mancini being unfurled in the away end. On the field, both sets of players are still going through their pre-match warm-ups. Going to be an odd atmosphere, with Reading already down and City playing for pride.
Just over 20 minutes until kick-off at the Madejski. Keep your thoughts on the game, Mancini and anything else coming to Chris.Burton@bskyb.com or @SkySportsChrisB.
Marvin Strong is the latest to question the logic of the City board. He says: "What a poor decision from the board to sack Mancini. Speculation over his future surely distracted everyone's focus on the FA Cup final, 2nd in the league behind the greatest manager of them all, a poor affair in the Champions League but in the strongest group I've ever seen, admittedly we should beat Ajax. Now we look like we're gonna bring in a manager with no Premiership experience. Managers should be treated with much more respect and given time. One trophyless season is hardly a disaster. Just look at Wenger!! Maybe you should only be able to sack managers within the transfer windows."
Jack Dolan sees the hosts getting something tonight. He says: "Think Reading might snatch a draw tonight if City don't turn up again, with Nasri to coming on to score a late one."
Holly Savage is another disappointed Blue. She says: "Absolutely gutted that Mancini has been sacked, after everything he has done for us, he's going to be missed a lot. Despite him being sacked, we have to march on regardless, I can see City bouncing back after the FA Cup final defeat and be back on track. I'm going with 2-0 with Aguero and Silva on the score sheet. Let's do this for Mancini, come on City!"
Brian Kidd currently out on the field putting down training cones. He may be in charge of City tonight, but he is very much in coaching mode. He will be hammering home the need for City to put in a positive performance, to help gloss over some of the mess.
On the team selections, Reading are unchanged and City have made four alterations to the side which lost the FA Cup final to Wigan on Saturday. Still a very strong visiting XI, but will their eye have been taken off the ball?
Simon Rigby is one of those City supporters less than impressed by recent goings on at the Etihad. He says: "City fan all my life - seen ups and downs from relegation to Division Two, Paul Dickov's injury time equaliser in 1999 to us winning the Premier League. Look how much we've progressed since United won the treble in 1999. Have had the best memories from Mancini's reign. Sad day and embarrassing for the club. We want stability and not to be another Chelsea. CTID."
Chris Green thinks Reading can pile more misery on City. He says: "If Reading perform to their potential and get the backing from their fans, I think they can shock us all this evening and beat the former Premier League champions. Any team can beat Man City when they aren't at their best, so Reading will have a chance this evening of pulling off a shock, but for this to happen, they must not allow Man City to dominate the match; otherwise, their dreams will be over before they've even begun."
Man City team: Hart, Richards, Kolo Toure, Lescott, Clichy, Yaya Toure, Barry, Milner, Silva, Tevez, Aguero. Subs: Pantilimon, Maicon, Kolarov, Garcia, Nasri, Rodwell, Dzeko.
Reading team: McCarthy, Gunter, Morrison, Mariappa, Kelly, Karacan, Guthrie, McCleary, McAnuff, Robson-Kanu, Pogrebnyak. Subs: Taylor, Pearce, Harte, Carrico, Akpan, Blackman, Le Fondre.
Breaking news ahead of tonight's game, with it being confirmed that David Platt has left his position at Manchester City in the wake of Mancini's dismissal.

Brian Kidd will be the at the City helm tonight and will be demanding a positive response from his players, with it important for them to end a frustrating season as positively as possible.
The Blues parted company with Roberto Mancini on Monday night, a year to the day after he led them to the Premier League title and two days after they graced the FA Cup final.
With the Royals already destined to be plying their trade in the Championship next season, attention ahead of this game has focused squarely on City.
