Wilfried Bony looks set for a first Swansea start since he rejoined the club in Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash at Reading (kick-off 8pm).
The forward has been used as a substitute twice in the Premier League since making the move back to the Welsh club after leaving for Manchester City in 2015.
Reading winger Modou Barrow looks set to miss the clash with former club Swansea. The Gambia international was forced to sit out the weekend draw with Brentford after picking up a knee injury and is unlikely to be fit to face the Premier League side on Tuesday evening.
Royals defender Jordan Obita came off the bench at the weekend and is in contention to start following an ankle injury, but the third-round cup tie could come too soon for midfielder John Swift who has returned to training following a hamstring problem. Striker Yann Kermorgant (hip/groin) and long-term absentee Callum Harriott (knee ligament) remain out.
Swansea manager Paul Clement made only a small number of changes for the trip to MK Dons in round two but Bony looks set to be called upon.
Elsewhere, Clement is likely to hand opportunities to goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt plus Angel Rangel, Renato Sanches, Leroy Fer and Roque Mesa as Swansea head to the Madejski Stadium.
Reading have progressed past Swansea in the three League Cup ties they have played against the Swans; most recently a 1-0 victory in round two of the 2007-08 League Cup.
The Royals have only progressed past Premier League opposition in one of their last 10 League Cup matches; a 3-2 victory against QPR in September 2012.
Swansea have won 13 of their last 16 League Cup contest against lower league opponents, including a 5-0 win over Bradford City in the 2013 League Cup final.
In fact, the Swans have only reached the fourth round once in the last four seasons since their League Cup triumph.
Reading have progressed in the last four League Cup games at the Madejski, although each of these games has come in either round one or two.
