Rochdale reduced the gap between them and the automatic promotion places to just four points following an impressive 3-0 victory over Notts County at Spotland.
Dale midfielder Nicky Adams create the first real chance after 27 minutes, but County goalkeeper Josh Lillis got down well to save his low drive.
Keith Hill's men continued to push forward and were rewarded with a goal on the stroke of half-time. Gary Jones' cross was only partially cleared by the Magpies' backline and Will Buckley was on hand to fire a shot past Lillis.
Dale started brightly after the restart with Keiran Toner's shot blocked by Stephen Hunt before Lillis saved substitute Adam Rundle's effort.
County midfielder Myles Weston's deflected shot gave Rochdale goalkeeper Frank Fielding his first big save of the match after 67 minutes.
But Rochdale wrapped up the points when Chris Dagnall netted from close range after good work from Scott Wiseman and Adam Le Fondre,
before substitute striker Le Fondre added a third from close range.
