Celtic bounced back from defeat in Europe to beat Ross County and move six points clear at the top of the table

Celtic responded to their latest European disappointment with a win as they stretched their Scottish Premiership lead by beating Ross County 4-1 in Dingwall on Sunday.

There were no signs of a Hoops hangover at Victoria Park after Thursday's 2-1 home loss to Molde in the Europa League as Tom Rogic put them in front and they then scored three more goals after the break.

Celtic are now six points clear of second-top Hearts again, having emerged victorious for the fifth successive league fixture.

Away manager Ronny Deila made three changes to the side which lost in midweek, with Jozo Simunovic and Kris Commons out injured and Kieran Tierney surprisingly dropped to the bench.

A minute's silence marked Remembrance Sunday before kick-off and although it was disrupted by only a minority of Celtic fans, others around them appeared visibly annoyed by their actions.

Once play began, the opening moments were tentative as both teams took time to settle in wet and wintry conditions.

Leigh Griffiths screwed wide for the visitors and Liam Boyce had County's best chance with a close-range header which went wide as the teams traded opportunities.

Celtic then went close through James Forrest - who fired wide from long range - before Griffiths was blocked and the visitors were finding it hard to break their well-organised opponents down.

Slackness in the away defence almost gave County a chance to open the scoring as Boyce drove into the area but goalkeeper Craig Gordon was alert.

With that, it was Celtic who went in front instead as Rogic sent a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner from 20 yards seven minutes before the midway point.

The champions built on their advantage after the break as they made a strong start to the second period and two more goals in a minute from Griffiths killed the game as a contest.

He swept home his first with a clinical finish after Nir Bitton picked him out, then made it 3-0 when he turned in Forrest's low cross.

County hit back through Tony Dingwall, who reduced the arrears before the hour mark with a well-taken strike from 15 yards after Celtic could not clear.

The home side could not inflict any further damage, however, and Bitton added a fourth with a glancing header to round off a straightforward victory.

Celtic's next assignment is at home to Kilmarnock on November 21, when fifth-placed Ross host Motherwell.
