Le Fondre brace inspires Millers

Rotherham finally got back to winning ways after five games without success courtesy of a 2-1 triumph at home to Oxford.

Both teams took a while to get into gear and the first chance fell to the visitors after 18 minutes, but with the goal at his mercy Alfie Potter could not direct his header on target from Ben Futcher's cross. Josh Payne then had a shot saved by Andy Warrington before Rotherham took the lead through Adam Le Fondre in the 26th minute. The striker was poaching on the edge of the six-yard area and when Oxford failed to clear, he pounced for his 15th of the season. Eleven minutes later Le Fondre added a second, steering his shot into the corner from Ryan Taylor's head down. But Oxford pulled one back in first-half injury time. Tom Craddock's shot was saved by Warrington's legs but the ball flew straight to Simon Clist and he drilled his effort past the grounded goalkeeper. Rotherham failed to find their shooting boots after the break and Taylor saw three good efforts go off target before Nicky Law drilled a shot just wide of a post. And the home side were almost made to pay when Paul Wotton had a late shot tipped over the bar as the home side fought a rearguard action to keep Oxford out.
