European Qualifiers: Russia host Moldova in Group G, Austria meet Montenegro

Russia host Moldova in Group G of the European Qualifiers on Sunday, while Austria take on Montenegro.

Russia will be looking to take advantage of any slip ups from the sides above them when they host Moldova at Moscow's Otkrytie Arena.

Spartak Moscow left-back Dmitri Kombarov and Zenit midfielder Oleg Shatov are out because of muscle injuries, while manager Fabio Capello will make a late decision on the fitness of Dynamo Moscow forward Aleksandr Kokorin, who scored in the 1-1 draw away to Sweden.

Austria captain Christian Fuchs is not bothered how his side go about getting the needed result against Montenegro, so long as they do.

Marcel Koller's men will be out to build on a hard-earned 2-1 win in Moldova when Montenegro come to the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna for what will be the first-ever meeting between the two nations at senior level.

Montenegro are one of three sides locked on four points at the top of Group G, having drawn 0-0 at Liechtenstein.

Schalke defender Fuchs said: "Montenegro is a tough opponent, but we want to use our strengths so that we can cause them problems.

"Whether the game is beautiful to look at is a secondary concern for us, as long as at the end we get the result."

Koller has called up Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann as cover for Marc Janko, who was sent off in Moldova.

The Austria manager said: "Montenegro had many opportunities against Liechtenstein, but the winning goal was missing.

"We must be alert and show a high mental presence on the pitch."

Montenegro coach Branko Brnovic knows his side must improve their cutting edge in attack to get something from their trip to Vienna.

"We had approximately 25 chances to score (against) Liechtenstein and played well, but did not manage to get the goal," he said.

Sweden, meanwhile, will host Liechtenstein at the Friends Arena.

Rennes forward Ola Toivonen scored the equaliser against Russia, but then went off injured.

Captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic did not play because of an Achilles problem, and will continue to be assessed.

Sweden coach Erik Hamren remains philosophical after his side's unbeaten, yet still winless start to Euro 2016 qualifying.

"I understand it is better to win one and lose one compared with having two points, but on the other hand our opponents didn't win either,'' he said.

"The fact that Austria beat Moldova and Montenegro drew with Liechtenstein shows there are no easy games at all."
