Scotland aim to continue fine run

High-flying Scotland take on Ukraine at Hampden Park on Saturday in buoyant mood, in a game that can be seen live on Sky Sports 1. The Scots currently head Euro 2008 qualifying Group B with 21 points from nine games, one point in front of World Champions Italy and two ahead of World Cup finalists France. A fine run of form has seen them reach Group B's summit, with five successive victories since a 2-0 reverse away to Italy. This run included the famous 1-0 victory over France in Paris last month, when a James McFadden goal and stout defending saw them home.

Injuries

Scotland will be looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat to the Ukraine in Kiev last October. But manager Alex McLeish is without Celtic pair Gary Caldwell and Paul Hartley - centre-back Caldwell is out after sustaining a knee injury while midfielder Hartley has a hamstring problem. Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is also on the sidelines. Ukraine currently sit in fourth place in Group B, with 13 points from their opening eight games. They desperately need a victory in the game at Hampden Park to keep their faint qualifying hopes alive. But they go into the clash on the back of poor form, with only one victory - a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan - in their last four games. This run also included a 1-1 draw away to Georgia, a 2-0 defeat away to France, as well as a 2-1 reverse at home to Italy in their last match. Chelsea striker Andrei Shevchenko will lead the line and will be looking to put poor Premier League form behind him. Liverpool's Andriy Voronin will play in midfield, as will Anatoliy Tymoschuk, whom Scotland's captain Barry Ferguson rates very highly.
