Scunthorpe midfielder Garry Thompson is doubtful for Saturday's home match against Bristol Rovers.

Thompson doubtful for Iron while Hughes passed fit for Pirates

Scunthorpe Garry Thompson is doubtful for Saturday's home match against Bristol Rovers. The Iron are lying fourth after winning their last four matches in all competitions, with Thompson starting each game. But although the midfielder has recovered from the knee injury he picked up in their last match against Millwall on January 31, he may have to settle for a place on the bench alongside new signing Henri Lansbury, who has arrived on a month's loan from Arsenal. Marcus Williams (broken metatarsal), Kenny Milne (knee), and Ben May (ankle) are making good progress but are expected to remain sidelined until March. Jeff Hughes should be available for Bristol Rovers despite breaking a bone in his hand earlier this week. The left-sided player is expected to play wearing a cast after slipping on ice at the Pirates' training ground. Top scorer Rickie Lambert could also be involved after scans revealed his hip problem is not as serious as first thought. The 20-goal forward was not in contention for the postponed games against Huddersfield and Crewe but has resumed light training and is rated 50/50 for being fit to face Scunthorpe.
