Iron let lead slip
Northampton produced a terrific fightback from three goals down early in the second half to snatch a 4-4 draw at Scunthorpe.
Nigel Adkins' Scunthorpe eased into an early lead with goals from strikers Ben May and Gary Hooper. May opened the scoring with a header in the 13th minute and then provided the flick which enabled Hooper to make it 2-0 with a cracking right-foot shot.
Scott McGleish reduced the arrears for the visitors after 25 minutes, heading home a cross from Liam Davis. Seven minutes later Scunthorpe made it 3-1 when Hooper headed his 15th goal of the season at the far post.
The game looked all over when May scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-1 in the 51st minute after a shot from Martin Woolford had only been half blocked.
But Giles Coke triggered Northampton's revival when he scored from a free-kick just a minute later.
Danny Jackman then made it 4-3 in the 57th minute, forcing a shot past goalkeeper Joe Murphy at the second attempt. And Northampton salvaged a point in the 85th minute when an in-swinging corner from Jackman was helped into his own net by keeper Murphy.
