New signing Ryan Colclough could make his Scunthorpe debut against League One visitors Walsall on Saturday.
The winger, a transfer deadline day recruit from Wigan, could fill the gap left by Duane Holmes, who has joined Derby. Colclough has linked up with a squad buoyant following last weekend's 2-1 win at Coventry.
Scunthorpe will be without injured pair Matt Gilks and Josh Morris, while a late decision is set to be made on Funso Ojo, who has not trained fully this week.
New Walsall arrivals Josh Gordon and Isaiah Osbourne are likely to be in the selection mix at Glanford Park. Gordon has arrived from Leicester, with Osbourne about to embark on a second spell with the Saddlers after leaving Forest Green.
Long-serving skipper Adam Chambers is a doubt for Walsall due to a foot injury, having been forced off at half-time against Plymouth last Saturday. But Morgan Ferrier, who also went off in the Plymouth game, is set to recover in time and retain a starting place.
Scunthorpe have failed to score in four of the last six meetings with Walsall, but did win the two games in which they did find the net.
Walsall have lost just two of their last nine away league games against Scunthorpe (W4 D3), though these defeats have come in their last four visits there.
Scunthorpe - who beat Coventry 2-1 in their opening game - haven't won their first two league games in a season since 2004-05.
Walsall have won just one of their last 14 away league games (D5 L8), against Southend back in March (3-0).
Scunthorpe are unbeaten in nine league games, winning five and drawing four.
