And that's a wrap. A fantastic win for the Zambians who hold on for the 2-1 victory. Senegal only have themselves to blame as they were well below par in this clash and will regret their performance.
Time is running out for Senegal with only four minutes of added time left in the game. This would be a massive win for Chipolopolo, who were the underdogs coming into the clash.
Penalty appeal for Senegal but it's waved away and the Lions have a corner-kick instead. Zambia clear with ease and seem destined to hold on for the win as brave goalkeeping from Mweene denies Senegal.
Senegal are enjoying more of the possession after pulling one back and look more likely to score than their opponents.
The Lions are right back into this game as Guirane N'Daw finds Dame Ndoye, who chests it down before smashing it into the back of the net.
Great chance for Senegal to pull one back as a Cisse crosses for Ba at the far post. However, the Newcastle striker's header rattles the woodwork as Zambia survive the threat.
A Senegal free-kick is put into a dangerous area but Mohamed Diame just can't get on the end of it. It would've been a tough one to stop from that range. Ba has a chance as a cross falls for him 10 yards out, but his shot is wide.
Senegal seem to be lacking a creative spark in midfield while Zambia are comfortably maintaining their lead by playing responsibly, limiting the Lions' chances.
Katongo has possession on the right wing and threatens with a cross. It's half cleared and the resultant effort from outside the area is weak. Sow has a chance for Senegal after the ball is cut back but his shot is off target. The Lions are pushing forward to their credit.
Katongo unleashes an early strike from long range, but it is tame and wide of the target. Ba is a frustrated man at the moment as he looks to break away but is called back for a foul. Senegal's build-ups still lack the pace necessary to break open the Zambian defence.
Zambia kick off the second half, no doubt determined to carry on the good work of the opening stanza.
Demba Ba has a rare chance as the ball falls for him in the Zambia area but Stophira Sunzu puts in a heroic block as the half draws to a close with Chipolopolo in control.
Emmanuel Mayuka keeps the pressure on Lions goalkeeper Coundoul as he shoots from range to force an athletic save from him. Katondo is one of Zambia's stand-outs at the moment, cutting holes in the Senegal defence with his piercing passes. Senegal seem somewhat disinterested.
Kalaba has an opportunity from a free-kick in a promising position but he skies it. Mweene hasn't had too much to do in the Zambian goal. Chipolopolo are negating Senegal's attacks in midfield, minimising the effect the likes of Ba has on the game.
Moussa Sow and Demba Ba combines well to put the Zambian defence under some pressure, forcing Mweene to come off his line, but it doesn't quite come off for the Lions, who are struggling to get a foothold in this match.
Zambia are growing in confidence after going two goals clear while Senegal's passes are going astray too often. The Teranga Lions need to find some inspiration from somewhere. Ba hasn't been brought into play enough as Zambia have had the better of the midfield battle.
Christopher Katongo has been instrumental for Zambia so far and split the Senegal defence in two with a superb through-ball which found Kalaba, who netted coolly to double his side's lead. Senegal have made a disastrous start to their 2012 AFCON campaign. But they still have time left to pull it out of the fire.
Nathan Sinkala has a go from outside the area to force under-siege Senegal keeper Coundoul into another save. Zambia are certainly up for this game against one of the pre-tournament favourites.
Dan Higgins (Newcastle fan): I'm hoping demba Ba scores, he has been a real miss today, I hope Senegal do well in the AFCON
Massive chance for Katongo as Senegal keeper Bouna Coundoul comes way outside of his area in an attempt to gather the loose ball. Katongo tries to get a shot away with the keeper out of position, but the defenders block his strike.
A free-kick into the danger area was nodded on for Mayuka who made no mistake with his header, putting it in the back of the net with a textbook finish. Then at the other end of the pitch, Senegal forced Kennedy Mweene into a reflex save as Moussa Sow headed on target from a free-kick.
Senegal's star striker Demba Ba gets an early touch as he tries to chest down a cross from the left, but Zambia's defence come away with the ball. A big chance for Rainford Kalaba as a through-ball finds his feet but he is unable to take advantage. Zambia are creating more on the attack than their opponents early on.
The game is off to a relaxed start as the ball is played around in midfield with Senegal comfortable on the ball. However, it's Zambia who threaten early as Christopher Katongo hits the side netting before a counter attack sees Senegal keeper Bouna Coundoul forced into a save.
