Sheffield United could hand a debut to Joe Riley when they host Gillingham at Bramall Lane.

The Manchester United youngster, who can operate in both defence and midfield, has signed a deal to join the Sky Bet League One leaders until the end of the season.

Manager Chris Wilder is hopeful left-back Daniel Lafferty is available after he missed the club's recent defeat at Walsall.

Lafferty, who is on loan from Burnley, was sidelined for the game with a back problem but returned to training on Thursday and is in contention. Midfielder Samir Carruthers (knee) remains sidelined.

Gillingham will have on-loan Cardiff defender Deji Oshilaja available again following suspension.

Midfielder Jake Hessenthaler missed the defeat at Oldham through illness but is expected to be back in contention for new Gills head coach Ady Pennock.

Winger Elliott List is set to retain his place in the starting XI after the 19-year-old impressed on his first appearance since November.

Midfielder Lee Martin (ankle) is stepping up his rehabilitation, while defender Bradley Garmston (hamstring) and Aaron Morris (knee) also continue their recovery.
