Richard Stearman could be set to return at the heart of the Sheffield United defence against his former team Wolves in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday.

The centre-back has missed the last seven games due to a hamstring problem but boss Chris Wilder described him as being "close" to a return at the pre-match press conference.

Jake Wright's form in Stearman's absence could give Wilder a selection dilemma and it might not be the only one with full-back Kieron Freeman and striker Clayton Donalson also in contention to make a return to the team for Wednesday's match.

Wolves can join Cardiff on 23 points at the top of the league with a win and Helder Costa could feature for the first time this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side had no new injuries to report at his press conference and he will be hopeful his side can make it eight matches unbeaten at Brammall Lane.
