Shrewsbury v Brentford preview

Image: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing: In line for Shrews bow

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Shrewsbury and Brentford at New Meadow.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is in contention for his Shrewsbury debut at home to League One leaders Brentford. The winger arrived from Peterborough on an initial month-long loan deal on Thursday and is set to make his bow as Shrews aim to end a fourth-match losing streak. Caretaker manager Mike Jackson, whose first match in charge ended with a 3-1 defeat at Swindon last weekend, has been handed the reins on an extended basis until late February as the struggling club look to climb out of the relegation zone. Midfielders Aaron Wildig and Luke Summerfield (both thigh) will be assessed having missed out of late. Alan McCormack should be fit when leaders Brentford head to Shrewsbury. McCormack expects to overcome the ankle knock which forced him off during Tuesday night's 3-1 win over Bristol City. Fellow midfielder Adam Forshaw (calf) and defender Harlee Dean (groin) should also travel after resuming training this week having been sidelined since New Year's Day, giving boss Mark Warburton a welcome selection dilemma. But winger Sam Saunders is a few days behind in his recovery from injury and is set to miss out again while full-back Shaleum Logan has been loaned to Aberdeen.
