Southend v Rotherham preview
Last Updated: 23/03/18 10:40am
Southend will be without Jason Demetriou and Harry Kyprianou for the visit of Rotherham in Sky Bet League One.
Demetriou and Kyprianou have received call-ups to the Cyprus and Cyprus Under-21 squads respectively so will be unavailable for the Shrimpers. Boss Chris Powell will consider Elvis Bwomono or John White as replacements.
Michael Kightly is likely to come back into the side after he was rested at Blackpool last week.
Rotherham goalkeeper Marek Rodak is on international duty with Slovakia Under-21s. That means Lewis Price will make a first appearance for the Millers since November.
On-loan striker Caolan Lavery is struggling with illness and boss Paul Warne will not yet risk Darren Potter (Achilles) until he has had a reserve game. Jamie Proctor is continuing his rehabilitation from a knee injury and might be back for the last few games of the season.
After a run of five consecutive league wins against the Millers between 2005 and 2011, Southend have won just one of the last four (D1 L2), losing 5-0 last time out in August.
Rotherham have avoided defeat in back-to-back visits to Southend (W1 D1); only once before have they gone three away Football League games there without a loss (W1 D2 in October 1987).
Southend have drawn three consecutive games in League One; they last had four successive stalemates in the league in August 2009.
Rotherham have won eight of their last 10 league games (L2), although their two defeats in this time have come in the last three such matches.
Of Rotherham's last eight league goals, five have come from set pieces. Indeed, no League One side has scored more goals from set pieces than the Millers this season (20).
